Who we are
Poa is a local price-comparison app operated by Root Tech in Tanzania. It helps buyers compare prices at nearby shops and contact sellers directly.
What we collect
Account details: email address, display name and, if you add it, phone number. If you sign in with Google we receive your name and email from Google.
Location: your approximate GPS position, only when you allow it, to sort shops by distance. It is used on your device and is not stored on our servers.
Photos: when you search by photo, the image is sent to an AI service to identify the product. It is stored only when the search needs staff review, and deleted once reviewed.
Searches: the words you search for and the number of results, linked to your account if you are signed in.
Content you create: saved products, reviews, chat messages with shops, support requests, Premium membership, and seller applications and prices.
Technical data: basic visit statistics such as pages viewed, device type and country.
How we use it
To run the app: show prices and shops, deliver messages and notifications, answer support requests, review new sellers and prices, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve search results. We do not sell your personal data and we do not show third-party ads.
Who we share it with
Shops you contact see the messages you send them. If you contact a shop by WhatsApp or phone, that happens outside Poa.
Service providers that host the app, store data, and run AI photo recognition, only as needed to provide the service.
Authorities, when required by Tanzanian law.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Access to back-office tools is limited by staff role, and staff actions are recorded.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted immediately, except records of staff actions kept for security.
Your choices and rights
You can view and change your information in the app, turn off location in your device settings, and delete your account at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it.
Children
Poa is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
We will update this page when this policy changes and show the new date above.

You can permanently delete your Poa account and the data linked to it at any time.
